Proud to be an Olympus PEN ambassador!

I have some pretty exciting news to share with you guys: I’ve recently been made an Olympus PEN ambassador!

Alongside my blogger buddies Yina Goh and Evonnz, we will be proudly representing Olympus for the next whole year, showing you the type of pictures you can take with Olympus cameras and how we incorporate our Olympus cameras into our everyday lives and blogging duties!

I couldn’t be more pleased about this ambassadorship and arrangement because I’ve been a religious Olympus fan for the past couple of years, thanks to Yina. Ever since she introduced me to the Olympus PEN E-PL5 (the camera she was using back then), I’ve never used another camera brand for my blog and Instagram posts since. I fell in love with Olympus cameras because of how reliable they are.

You can always trust the image quality to be amazing, and the user interface easy to navigate. It’s a very no-frills kind of brand, right up my alley. I don’t need cameras to be gimmicky, I just need them to work perfectly well for what they’re built for, and I feel that Olympus understands that very well. It is classic yet modern.

Functionality at its best.

So here are some of my favourite features of the Olympus PEN E-PL7 Camera that I’ve had pleasure of playing with recently:

1. I’ve never encountered any other camera that has a flip-down screen so it’s super convenient to take selfies with this feature on the Olympus camera! Also, with the powerful 3-Axis Image Stabilisation, I realised that it takes me a lesser time to capture an Instagram-worthy selfie as the photos turn out super clear!

2. I can edit the photos instantly! I love how it has Instagram-like features whilst producing great quality photos. I was playing around with the 14 live-preview art filters that was really fun.

3. With the Olympus PEN EPL-7’s Wi-Fi function, I can sync the camera directly to my phone via the Olympus Image Share smartphone application for instant sharing. I no longer need to transfer photos to my laptop first. Instead, I can directly edit my photos on my phone and share my photos within minutes!

Olympus has recently launched My PEN, My Style – the new PEN E-PL7 online customisation service screaming bold patterns and colours that lets you bring out the fun and style in shooting as functionality meets fashion!

Available exclusively online at, you can now flaunt your personality and flair by dressing your E-PL7 to match your individual style!

You can choose different strap patterns, bright coloured camera skins, various camera body colours and lens selection according to your own personal style and flair. I had so much fun customising my own “shiberty” camera at You can preview your final customised PEN E-PL7 on the website before making the purchase.

You can also incorporate the PEN E-PL7 camera in your fashion getup with a wide selection of colourful and exciting strap options from the likes of floral prints to patterned shapes and a handy assortment of premium leather camera bags from American brand Jill-E, and chic, colourful Cath Kidston pouches to keep your camera well protected from dusts or scratches!

Everyone has a different shooting style. So pick from 4 different types of lenses to suit your preference. Be it for #OOTD shots or to capture a fun day out with the girlfriends, My PEN, My Style has the perfect lens for you.

My customized PEN E-PL7 would look something like this! I love my pinks and floral prints, and this customized set suits my feminine “cupcake girl” side perfectly.

I chose to use the M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f1.8 lens because I am a true blue #foodie!

Not only does it let me take my food images up close, but, it creates a soft defocusing effect which brings out the finer details in my photos. Also, I don’t have to worry about dimly lit areas as this lens has got it covered!

I brought the PEN E-PL7 with me on my recent trip to Japan, and here’s some captures of the yummy food I had during my holiday taken with the camera!

Shooting was such a breeze thanks to the quick shutter speed and smart functions.

Even in low-lighting conditions, my images remain relatively sharp and the auto focus & shutter speed of the PEN E-PL7 always astounds me! The white balance of the pictures were also effortless to achieve as the settings are easily adjustable while shooting.

It’s a lightweight camera that is great for all sorts of lifestyle purposes I may need it for – selfie-taking, scenery shots, foodie captures and the list goes on! My favorite part about this camera is how compact and functional it is without being too costly or heavy to lug around. I know a lot of girls (like myself) can’t stand lugging around a heavy or bulky camera on a daily basis, but this would fit into your everyday handbag just fine!

Furthermore, once you’ve customized your very own unique PEN E-PL7 to represent your style, carrying it around on your neck would be a sort of fashion statement and accessory!

I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at the tantalizing food shots and customization possibilities I’ve shared in this post.  Stay tuned to this blog for further updates about my photographic journey with Olympus in future posts to come!

Perfect Italiano is giving away free cooking kits!

The time has come yet again for me to explore the world of cooking with Perfect Italiano cheese and sharing with you the results of my culinary adventures!

Perfect Italiano is a cooking cheese brand that adds simple Italian flair to everyday family meals. It is simple and easy to use, preventing homemade meals from being difficult, complex and time-consuming. You can easily add an Italian flair to your meals with a sprinkle of their great tasting cheese. Using Perfect Italiano’s cheese as the main ingredient, I’ve whipped up and shared the recipes for: Mac & Cheese and Deli Sandwich, Alfredo Pasta Bake and Parmesan Apple Crumble, & Tortilla Pizza and French Onion Soup.

That’s a total of 6 different dishes that feature various usage of their range of cheeses, and today, let’s add 2 more to the list! Today’s recipes were specifically thought up to be very inexpensive, quick, and delicious to make. Anyone, even without prior cooking experience, can attempt these! Both recipes should take under 10 minutes for prep AND cooking time. Not forgetting they are vegetarian-friendly as well!

Cheesy Eggy Mee Goreng

Ingredients (serves 1):

  • A packet of your favorite instant Mee Goreng
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of milk
  • Japanese seasoning (consisting of seaweed & sesame mainly)
  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 2 handfuls of Perfect Italiano Perfect Bakes cheese

  1. Prepare your Mee Goreng according to the packet instructions. I like to have my noodles very firm with lots of bite. Soggy noodles are just meh. Plate your noodles.
  2. Whip up 2 eggs in a bowl with a tablespoon of milk, then stir in 2 moderate handfuls of Perfect Italiano Perfect Bakes cheese.
  3. Pour into frying pan and cook the scrambled eggs over medium heat with some butter or oil, removing them from the heat while they’re still quite runny. Gently place on top of noodles.
  4. Garnish with Japanese seasoning and a good squeeze of ketchup all over your noodles.

I don’t usually eat instant noodles. I find the taste boring and not worthy of my calories. I’d rather eat bread with spread. But this, I would gladly wolf down again and again! The cheesy runny egg addition absolutely turns your average boring instant Mee Goreng into something much more special.

A plate of instant Mee Goreng with a fried egg on top just isn’t quite the same thing. Isn’t it awesome how some unexciting food we’re totally familiar with can be completely re-invented with just some cheeses?

It kinda reminds me of okonomiyaki, which is Japanese egg-wrapped fried noodles! You can do so much more to this, or leave it as it is. Make it even sexier by adding some meat (hot dogs perhaps, to keep to the “instant” theme?), but I chose to keep it simple and do-able under 5 minutes, because this is my idea of a yummy quick-fix.

The tart and sweet ketchup is necessary to balance out the flavors. Despite not being a baked dish, I chose Perfect Bakes for this as it contains a mix of three different cheeses for a more well-rounded taste!

Cheesy Chocolate Banana Fritters

  • Bananas (as few or as many as you’d like)
  • Corn starch
  • Panko breadcrumbs
  • Egg
  • Some milk
  • Maple syrup
  • Shaved chocolate
  • Perfect Italiano Mozzarella Cheese
  • Oil for deep frying

  1. Peel and cut bananas into shorter lengths if using the longer variety.
  2. Dip bananas in milk, then coat with corn starch.
  3. Crack and mix an egg in a bowl. Dip corn starch coated bananas into egg wash.
  4. Coat the bananas in panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Deep fry the bananas in hot oil until golden brown which takes about 15 seconds.
  6. Sprinkle on shaved chocolate and Perfect Italiano Mozzarella Cheese, and finish off with a generous drizzle of maple syrup!

These are inspired from a local treat called Goreng Pisangs! But instead of being simply fried in a thick batter as most stalls would sell them, I chose to give it a crispy but thin coating instead, letting the natural flavors of the juicy and sweet banana come through more. The shredded Mozzarella Cheese and shaved dark chocolate pieces complement the banana fritter perfectly and it does NOT taste the same without the cheese. I’ve tried and tested this theory.

The cheese adds a certain savory taste that enhances the flavor and because mozzarella is so mild, it’s not strange at all! Finally, we drizzle maple syrup all over this creation because… maple syrup over anything is a fantastic idea. ;)

I hope you give these unorthodox fusion recipes a try!

They’re extremely simple and there’s very little to wash up afterwards because there are only a few steps to take. I wanted to show you guys that cheese doesn’t have to be used for only Western dishes, but that it can be easily incorporated into Asian food. We’re lucky to live in Singapore where good food is easily available and we can enjoy all sorts of cuisines from around the world, so we should make full use of this global exposure to our advantage!

I was an MDIS Media and Communications student

Throwback to when my good friend, Yina Goh and I went to MDIS School of Media and Communications to collaborate on a music video together. It was so nostalgic for me to go back to campus, because I did my diploma there about 5 years ago, and it was years since the last time I’d been there! Memories started flooding me the moment I walked through the gates.

I thought of the times I had in school, the unforgettable experiences and all the friends I’d made. I believe some of the most defining moments in your life are made in school. It’s when you learn the most, about yourself and the world around you.

I had the best time recording popular songs with other like-minded students from the school, they’re incredibly talented and driven! We recorded it on the roof garden of the school, which was recently revamped and now looks amazing. In fact, the campus has undergone quite a major face lift since my time here. I have to say I’m a little bit jealous, because it’s so much better now! The layout of the campus and the facilities provided have improved tremendously.

After I finished my ‘O’ level, I was faced with one of the toughest decisions in my life. What course should I study? Turns out that media / mass communications is a very highly sought-after course.

I started considering pursuing other course options instead, but no matter which way I looked at it, I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else. I love the media and its impact on people. It’s literally what I live and breathe. I like learning about how media affects people’s lives. Sounds, images and text from the media shape the way we think and live our day-to-day lives. Why wouldn’t I want to learn how to be a part of it? I want to know what makes the world tick. I want to learn how to manipulate the possible advantages, and what people ache to know everyday. Media is information.

“The MDIS School of Media and Communications is one of the pioneers in the mass communications programme field in Singapore. It is also the first institution in Singapore to offer mass communications programmes from an American university- Oklahoma City University (OCU). The OCU mass communications degree programme is taught by OCU faculty in Singapore. The programme has a rich history and offers many unique advantages to their students. MDIS is one of the few PEI (Private Education Institution) to have its own TV and Radio Studio. Students are able to learn essential skills such as handling radio and television equipment, content producing, directing, scripting and video editing.Students are groomed to be radio DJs and they will run their radio show in the campus every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during lunch time. Students will also make full use of the TV studio to produce videos and doing editing of the videos.

To gain more experience, students can also join the Media and Communications Club, students are groomed to be radio DJs and they will run their radio show in the campus every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during lunch time. Students will also make full use of the TV studio to produce videos and doing editing of the videos. “

I still remember the first time I had my first “radio interview”. We had to read from a script and pretend to be a radio DJ reporting some news, and later on, asking some questions. I was so nervous, but it ended up being tons of fun! It was practical lessons like that I enjoyed the most. I felt more prepared for the real world. Although, at that point in time, I had no idea what I wanted to work as, I knew it would be something media-related. I had contemplated being a journalist or writer of some sort. Who knew I’d become a baker / blogger? Despite not working in the official industry (e.g a print publication) my blogging work is still extremely closely related to what I studied in school, and I watched the theories I had heard all about in the classroom come to life before my eyes when dealing with blogging campaigns and clients. Most of the lecturers we had for the course were personable and friendly, which made my time in school a whole lot more enjoyable. My classmates were a varied bunch, with lots of different personalities and it was an eye opening experience getting to see so many different characters in class. It was completely different from secondary school, where the environment was a lot more contrived, so people couldn’t be themselves as much. At MDIS, there is a lot of freedom, and therefore, room to grow.

“Students from the school are also very active in the area of internship attachments, and are well received by media and communications companies. These practical aspects ensure that our graduates are well-prepared for the ‘real world’ environment.

Some of the useful topics covered in my course curriculum were:

Social Behavioural Studies
Students will demonstrate an understanding of the dynamics of human interaction, with special emphasis on the individual social world. They will develop the impetus to think, perceive and act as social psychologists which will enhance their skills in interpersonal/ group interaction.

The Dynamics of Mass Communications
The students will gain an understanding of the development, nature and function of the press, radio, television, film, recording, advertising and public relations.

Techniques of Professional Speaking & Writing
To enable students to acquire the basic and necessary receptive and productive skills for professional written and oral communication.

TV & Radio Production
To provide an understanding of the basic techniques in radio and TV production, as well as in the process of dramatic and non-dramatic film production.

Journalism & News Broadcasting
To acquire the basic skills of professional news writing and examine the fundamentals involved in the news gathering process.

Advertising: Strategy & Effective Practice
To provide an understanding of the strategies of the advertising and apply them in the area of marketing communication.

Public Relations: Strategy & Effective Practice
To help students gain competence in basic public relations skills and utilise them in analysing public relations programmes.

Human & Mass Communications:
Structure & Process Students will demonstrate an understanding of the processes, variables and concepts in verbal and non-verbal communications.

Your choice of tertiary education is crucial, and I’ve had my fair share of friends who ended up studying in a course they had absolutely no interest in. I think that is a waste of time, studying something you don’t even enjoy. My personal advice would be to ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS choose what you believe in. MDIS is a popular choice for both local and international students.

I’ve never regretted my choice to study in MDIS, because I feel like it gave me the push I needed to kick start my working life, and some preparation for what I was about to face in the big world out there. I will always remember my days in the school fondly, and if you’d like to find out more about the courses they offer, you can check out their website, where detailed information is available for your perusal!

Kinohimitsu Collagen Drink

What makes a woman beautiful?

Is it her grace, poise, intelligence, the kindness in her heart, twinkle in her eyes or simply her smile?

My mum brought me up to believe that beauty is all of the above. That, while, looking good on the outside, it’s also important to be good to people. Be kind whenever you can. I am always learning from her, be it about life lessons or beauty tips.

Can you believe she’s already a grandmother?!? She won’t let me reveal her actual age here, but you’d never guess it! I think my mum is the epitome of aging gracefully. I would love to look as good as her when I’m bouncing my grandchild up and down my lap, some day. When people ask her how she maintains herself so well, she simply smiles and laughs sheepishly.

But because I’m her precious daughter, I’m naturally let in on her beauty secrets.. and one of her best kept secrets is collagen drinks!

I’ve seen her taking bottles of collagen every other night since I was in primary school. I remember asking her if I could have a bottle to try when I was younger because it looked delicious, and she laughed and told me, “you don’t need them yet!”. I didn’t know what it was for back then, but I sure do now!

Collagen is most commonly found in the skin, bones and connective tissue within the body, providing structural support, strength and a degree of elasticity. In the middle layer of the skin – the dermis – collagen helps form a fibrous network, upon which new cells can grow. Collagen is also required in the replacement and restoration of dead skin cells. As collagen production naturally declines with age, skin loses the elasticity it once had, causing sagging skin, the formation of lines and wrinkles and the weakening of cartilage in joints.

Women who regularly intake collagen drinks can prevent signs of aging from as early as in their mid twenties – every factors such as UV rays, stress, imbalanced diet & lifestyle and air pollution will contribute to premature aging.

My mum was very pleasantly surprised when I brought home these two 30 day packs of Kinohimitsu collagen drinks for her, because it’s a brand she’s been familiar with for many years, and I’ve just provided her a 2 month supply in time for Mother’s Day!

Why Kinohimitsu is well-loved Japanese beauty brand by many women worldwide, in a nutshell:

  • Only collagen brand that is SGS tested (no additives, no hormones, no preservatives, no chemicals, no artificial colouring)
  • Ingredients extracted through advanced technology
  • Sugar free (sweetness naturally derived from fruit extracts)
  • Collagen taken from deep sea marine fishes’s scales (pure, high quality & no fishy taste)
  • Ingredients are carefully formulated to ensure effective absorption
  • Promises visibly smoother and plumper skin in just a week

As seen here are their two ranges, the Kinohimitsu Collagen Diamond 5300mg and Kinohimitsu Diamond Nite.

Other key functions and benefits of Kinohimitsu Collagen drinks:

  • Skin firming
  • Tightens and minimizes pore appearances
  • A natural butt & bust lift
  • Reduces blemishes, dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hydrates your skin by locking in moisture. This helps to reduce the oil secretion from your face and your make up can glide smoothly and stay longer!
  • Lightens uneven skin tone
  • Strengthens hair and nails

It’s said that the best absorption occurs on an empty stomach, so I recommend having the Kinohimitsu Collagen Diamond 5300mg when you start your day in the morning before your big breakfast!

Since it is sweet in taste with a fruity hint, you can also add it to your favorite healthy fruit beverage such as a cup of orange juice if you’re not too keen to consume it straight from the bottle all the time.

You won’t even taste the difference in your drink! Pop it in the fridge before taking it because it’s much way tastier when served chilled.

The bottle is small and light enough for me to conveniently take around if I want a refreshing beauty pick-me-up halfway through my day! It fits in all the bags and purses I have, because of the handy bottle size.

Kinohimitsu Diamond Nite is new in the market, and it’s the first collagen brand in the market to help you sleep better at night!

Night time is when your skin rapidly repairs itself and its metabolism rate is at its highest, that’s why skincare products are always urged to be applied and taken before you sleep!

Diamond Nite also has the same amount of collagen as Collagen Diamond 5300mg, but this bottle of goodness contains GABA, an ingredient that actually helps to induce mind relaxation and help to promote better sleep quality in order to heal and rejuvenate your skin. Wake up to radiant, glowing skin the next morning! The Manuka Honey UMF 15+ found inside also helps to reduce inflammation in your body, thus protecting your skin from oxidative stress.

Estée Lauder Crescent White

Perhaps it’s me getting on with the years, or all the late nights I’ve been having… but my complexion’s taken a turn for the worse. Lack of sleep, bad lifestyles habits, not enough exercise, unhealthy diet have all contributed to my deteriorating complexion. I used to proudly sport rather radiant skin that I received compliments for, only for it to look quite dull and patchy recently, much to my own horror.

I’ve never struggled very much with my skin, but right now the struggle is REAL. A lot of people have commented that I look tired all the time, and I’m thinking it’s gotta do with my worsening skin.

I’m in my early twenties, pimples shouldn’t really be a problem anymore, but they are. They are randomly popping up everywhere. And I have combination skin, which means certain parts are oily where other patches are dry and peeling. It’s so frustrating to deal with this problem, and I felt relatively helpless for a period of time because my usual go-to products didn’t seem to be doing the job anymore. I could really use some new skincare to brighten up my skin and its prospects, because it’s NOT looking good so far!

I was all too excited to try out Estée Lauder‘s brand new whitening Crescent White range of skincare after it was introduced to me!

Taking a breakthrough approach to skin brightening, this new collection works in sync with skin’s circadian rhythm to address not only existing dark spots and pigmentation, but also the key causes of light loss and discoloration. It sounds exactly like what my skin desperately needed. I may be entering the age when my skin starts to show signs of aging, but I’d like to prevent it for as long as possible, if I can help it!

Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening promotes skin’s natural ability to self-brighten and repair. Extra gentle yet effective, the regimen includes six new skincare products and one foundation powder (not shown here) created for and tested on Asian women in Asia. Skin awakens looking fairer, brighter, and more translucent now and in the future!

Here’s getting to know a few of my favorite few products a little better..

Rapidly foaming into a rich lather, this cleanser is proven to gently purify skin of surface pollutants without disturbing its protective moisture barrier or leaving any residue. I’m in love with the smell of these products, they smell like a cross between fresh daisies and clean linen! Using this cleanser leaves my skin feeling smooth and absolutely squeaky clean.

Revitalizing skin with a surge of hydration, it is conditioned, softened and prepared to maximize benefits from the entire range of products. It’s such a soothing feeling to apply this after cleansing, it feels instantly refreshed.

Helps prevent and visibly reduce the look of dark spots, discoloration and uneven skin tone, while also addressing yellow skin tone from multiple sources. Dullness disappears to reveal a natural, youthful transparency and a lustrous glow that emanates from within. The texture is quite viscous but easily spread across and absorbed by the skin. While this does feel quite moisturizing, it’s still not enough and thus follows the next step – moisturizer!

This new skin cushioning creme provides deep down hydration and extra comfort, helping to strengthen skin’s moisture barrier. I like how it is light enough to apply during the day, but rich enough so that it’s enough for usage as a night cream. And for some reason, it smells like yummy vanilla to me!

Protect, perfect and highlight all in one with this new BB Creme and Brightening Balm. This innovative formula evens and brightens skin tone while also minimizing the look of dark spots and imperfections. I like how the product blends effortlessly and the texture is light enough while still covering up uneven patches. The little brightening balm at the tip is too cute, and super useful! I don’t need to carry around an extra highlighter anymore.

After religiously using the new Crescent White range for a couple of weeks, I have to say, these are my favorite products from Estée Lauder thus far (and I have quite a few of them)!

It’s everything I need in perfect white little bottles. Everything works for me. The smooth and light texture of the products, the tried and proven efficacy, the minimalist pure packaging, the extremely pleasant scents and how it is a comprehensive range that is powerful enough for me to notice visible results in less than a month.

Pigmentation used to be an alien word to me. Dark spots? Aren’t those for women in their thirties? Apparently not! I was horrified to find little dark spots appearing all over my face. I feel like they have reduced slightly now, and my complexion is definitely a whole lot more radiant than before. There’s a sort of glow to my face now. My self-esteem took a nose dive when my complexion got worse in recent months, but now I can proudly go out bare-faced without feeling self-conscious about my skin condition anymore.

While some people might be under the wrong impression that Estée Lauder products are meant for mature women, what my fellow girlfriends in their 20′s need to know is that your anti-aging regimen should start in your early twenties for the best results, and no one knows that better than Estée Lauder! Thanks for saving me from a possible skin crisis. I’m too young to be living with dark spots and dull patches on my face.

Pssst! The first 100 readers to flash my Instagram post at the Estée Lauder ION Orchard boutique will receive a 5 day trial of the Crescent White UV Protector!
