Great Ocean Road

First of all, I’d like to begin this post with my heartfelt thanks, with regards to my previous post “Overcoming Obstacles”.

I would like to sincerely thank every single one of you who have sent me emails, left me messages in MSN or comments on my blog, etc…

It is extremely heartwarming to know that when I feel like I cannot talk to anybody I know in real life, I always have my blog to fall back onto. It also helps that I have such wonderful readers who may not comment all that often, but they are here when I really need them!!

I’m amazed at the willingless of people sharing their very personal stories and offering me first-hand advice. I read every single message sent to me word for word and I really do think about what message you are trying to bring across, and it has helped and supported me more than you know.

To be honest, this has been more encouraging and productive than talking to ANYONE else about my problems..

It’s really cool how people are trying to view the situation from my perspective, putting my individual characteristics into consideration while dishing out advice, (instead of people always telling me what they think they would do) because after all I’m the one going through this situation right now!

I have not made up my mind 100% yet, but for now, I’m more confident of taking the risk of going to Australia to study as I really just needed that extra push from people to remind me how much I genuinely want this opportunity.

Not just for my relationship, but for me to grow and experience as a person too! While I continue to ponder about this tricky situation..

Thanks for being incredibly supportive, and those who are not supportive, at least you are honest. I welcome all sorts of opinions on this issue, in fact I need to consider as many factors as possible to make a well-informed decision. I am really glad that people can relate to my blog in a certain way, and I feel extremely fortunate to have received this much concern from “strangers online”.

I always knew I had awesome readers but I never knew just how awesome they truly were.

Much love!!!! ♥

“The Great Ocean Road is a 243-kilometre (151 mi) stretch of road along the south-eastern coast of Australia. The road was built by returned soldiers between 1919 and 1932, and is the world’s largest war memorial; dedicated to casualties of World War I.” - Image and information from Wikipedia

….I first heard about the Great Ocean Road when I was google-ing “most beautiful places in the world”. I arrived at this website that did a feature on the Great Ocean Road, dubbing it as one of the most scenic roads in the entire world.

I knew then it HAD to be at the top of my “To-Do list” during my first trip to Melbourne, I even remember tweeting about wishing I could have a drive down that road one day… And voila!!

My wish came true a few months later. ♥

Ok I don’t have any pics at the start of the day, because me and Sam planned to wake up at 6am for our grand road trip but failed miserable and overslept till 12pm. LOL #suckers

But we immediately got up and packed our stuff (gosh why we didn’t plan this properly I don’t know) and we were out of the house by afternoon…

We passed by some really gorgeous places on our way to the Great Ocean Road (it’s quite far out), but the sun was going down soon and we didn’t stop to take pictures >:(

Obviously badly edited pic but too lazy to make changes so this will do la.

Don’t judge my weird outfit. We were in a rush and I just wanted something warm and comfortable, so I grabbed Sam’s shirt that was lying on his bedroom floor LOL. It’s a 6 hour drive yo!!!

I didn’t even comb my hair so I just threw on a beret hahaha

For a road that’s named “Great Ocean Road”, you’d expect to be driving along beaches the whole time… However most of the time spent driving is actually on deserted weird roads through small towns LOL.

It took about 3-4 hours before we finally saw the coast line -_-

The good thing is when you finally DO see the coastline, it’s pretty much the only thing you see… it’s great and all, if you ignore the nauseating winding small roads!

YAY!! Ocean…. Finally ^.^

I wish the lighting was better in pictures…

Need to learn how to use my camera better. Swear to god it was beautiful in real life though. There was like nobody around the area (well goodness knows why, we were practically in the middle of nowhere ) so it was very romantic.

Sam giving his trademark sultry stare… Oh yeah you work it baby. Lol

We were both really happy because this is a road trip that we’ve been looking forward to and talking about for months!!

Oh ya I did mention that this is in the other part of Australia, right? It’s near Melbourne, which means that this is a 5 hour flight from Western Australia..

I’m gonna be alternating my future travel posts between Melbourne and Perth so don’t get confused!

Spent some time admiring the views before hopping back into the car.. Coming to think of it, it’s a real shame we didn’t take more pictures that day!!

I forgot the names of the small towns we were in, but I tried an incredible potato spud that had caramelized onions, tuna, spring onions, bacon, cheese and basically EVERYTHING on it! I’ve never had potato like that before.

Giving you a rough idea of what it’s like..

Driving on the edge of cliffs, looking down at a seemingly endless coastline.

Nothing but blue skies and the horizon surrounds you!!!

It was a full moon. Pretty, isn’t it?

By the time we drove past Lorne and all the other towns to get to Apollo Bay (where we were staying along the Great Ocean Road for the night) it was already like 8pm, so we picked Sandpiper at the very last minute as all the others were completely booked out!

I was kinda skeptical at first, as I’ve always had weird impressions of “motels”, I assume they’re shabby and people only go there to have sex while their spouses are at work (thanks to the movies)... I guess I’m rather sheltered and snobbish that way because I’ve only ever stayed in luxury hotels.

But I was proven wrong. They’re not as posh of course, but something about the small scale apartments make the whole experience more personal! I liked it.

I think I may just stay at more holiday homes and motels than hotels now :]

Apollo Bay is really photogenic.. We had breakfast early in the morning at this cute cafe by the road. Been eyeing it since last night, I love the little potted flowers by the window sill, such a nice touch!!!

We dined Al Fresco because the morning air is really fresh and we don’t wake up early often enough to appreciate it more lol!

Such beautiful days in winter…. C’mon Aussies, Winter is not that bad!!! Many days with cheery bright sun. (Although it’s freezing at night

Waiting for breakfast! Erm and yea, I still didn’t have time to comb my hair… :3

The sun was crazy bright, so much that I didn’t even need to adjust the contrast of this photo to be this vibrant.

Great experience at this cafe compared to the restaurant we dined at the previous night for dinner.. Some people were surprisingly racist there.

I’ve always thought of Australia to be a very advanced and culturally diverse country, so the last place I’d expect racism from is a popular tourist destination! Doesn’t bother me that much as long as those pricks don’t get in my faces, but it’s kinda hard to eat when half the restaurant is staring at you.

OJ = My fav brekkie drink

I ♥ bright coloured coats..

Winter wear is so simple yet fashionable and you don’t even have to try!

Breakfast fit for a king!!

Bacon, sunny side up, boiled spinach, sausages, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes… Win.

A great start to our day, and we’re back on the road again!!!

I L♥VE driving in the country side,
especially with the window down. I’m not the one driving of course, but I reckon riding in the passenger seat is even more awesome.

Feels like I got all the time in the world to appreciate the goodness in life, while looking out of the window and taking in all the sights the country side has to offer!

I still get a kick every time we pass by cows or sheep, even though we must’ve passed by possibly thousands.

I climbed onto an empty house’s porch just to take this picture!!

The house was perched on top of this hill, looking down at MAGNIFICENT views.. Albeit a bit in the middle of nowhere, I would love to own a house like that.

Judging by its emptiness I reckon its a holiday home.. would’ve loved to stay there!!

Speaking of hills and slopey lush greenery, every time I see something like that, a voice inside my head goes “Over the hills and far away.. TELETUBBIES come out to play!!!”

..Is this normal? -__-

We take some time to frolick around the beach…

Test shot to see how bright the sun is!

I wanna take a dipppppppppppppppppppppppp OMG why did we have to go during winter?!?

Can you tell?

Red’s my new favourite colour.

Haahahaha MAJOR AWWWWWWs!!! ♥

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine… You make me happy when skies are grey!!! :>

I can’t wait to see where this path takes us.

Me being Bollywood around some statues that’s meant to represent something – what, I have no idea.

Back on the road again!!!
This time literally.

Check out the larger than life backgroundSoooo pretty!! Undisturbed countryside natural awesomeness.

I think this look out was called Castle Cove!

By this time, we’d been on the road for a couple of hours and it was already noon so the lighting was much better to be taking landscape pictures – as a result, these following shots turned out fantastic!

How can I resist camwhoring with such a spectacular backdrop!!!!

Yes, I know… Woah!!!!

It’s a double rainbow ;)

Looks like Paradise to me!

I’ve never seen as many rainbows in such a short time span as I did in Australia :)

Squinty picture of Sam and I!!!

I probably blog about and post pictures of the beach more than any other blogger out there… but I just can’t get enough of them :’)

Every single one is beautiful in their own way!!!

“Country road… Take me home… To the place… I belong!!!!”

Mooooooooooooooooooooooooo

The next few hours was quite a mad rush…

As a last minute decision (we had no idea what we were gonna do that very morning) we spontaneously popped by Otway National Park to go for a tree top walk!!

We were in the middle of a forest and this was pretty high up!!!

I’m not scared of roller coasters or even heights when I’m doing stuff like para sailing and hot air ballooning, but when I’m on some shaky bridge that looks like it may collapse any moment… I start to shit my pants.

The “bridge” had many intended holes in them so you can LOOK DIRECTLY DOWN to the ground…

I did not like that at all.

LOL @ my face.

That’s my “Omg is this metal structure safe? Omg why are you taking a picture of me in this situation? So cruel! OMG WHY ARE WE SWAYING!!! I feel like I’m falling over!! AAAHHH SAVE ME, RAILING!! *clutches onto for dear life*” face.

I swear the motherfucking tower swayed like a bitch when the strong winds blew. The trees around us were not swaying but the metal structure we were on was!! WTF.

Sam was not very forgiving > :(

He kept laughing at me… You can laugh all you want, but at least I kept my bad hair under a beret!

I tried to mask my fear with a fake smile but you can totally tell how awkward I was lol. To make things worse, we had to climb 5 flights of stairs up (then down) this twirly swirly staircase that made me have a headache, so didn’t help the swaying motions at all!!

I guess it still was pretty cool in its own way, being in the forest high amongst the trees, listening to leaves swishing in the wind and birds calling.. (so many exotic birds in forests!!!)

We drive for another hour to get to this rainforest / waterfall place..

Much more willing to take photos now!! Yay for SOLID GROUND!

And woah the forest looks enchanted in this photo.

You know what I absolutely ADORE about Winter?

…All the bugs are DEAD!!!

Not a single butterfly or moth was seen throughout my entire trip, even in rainforests and gardens!!! How awesome?

No mosquitoes, no houseflies.. basically nothing. ♥

I told Sam I really wanted to see some waterfalls, so we took a short hike into this rainforest that was recommended by the visitors centre and when we got there, we realized… WTF WE HAD TO HIKE / TREK FOR LIKE AN HOUR before we could even see the waterfall.

Bitch!!!! Why nobody told me!

I thought I’d just have to take a 10 or 15 minutes walk and it will be right before my eyes.

Mad fucking tiring, most of the trekking was uphill T____T

We had already trekked for about an hour before this as well, in the previous tree top walk place!

I seem to be interested in this super low tree, but really, I was just dying for an opportunity to take a rest (Sam wouldn’t let me!) so I squat down beside a tree pretending to wanna take a photo. Lol

After what seemed like an eternity of pure torture, and lots of whining and panting….

Ta-dah!!!
We reach the waterfall place.

I took one look at it and went, “WTF? This is what our whole hour of pure hard trekking was for?”

We came all the way here just to look at this?!?!?!

…………….

I got quite pissed off, but thankfully on our way back we saw even more waterfalls!!

There were 3 cascading waterfalls in total (so that’s what all the uphill hike was about) and even though it looks quite small in the photos, it was relatively big!

Pity we couldn’t hang around the base of it and that the plants was blocking quite a bit of the view.

Now we know why it’s called the Triplet Falls!

I’ve come to realize that I love the sound of trickling water and water rushing down from above and the splashing of water and anything water related ^.^

(the only one I don’t like is continuous dripping from taps.. creepy)

Sam was exhausted… not as much as me, but tired enough, mostly because he had to drive for hours AND drag my unfit ass up and down several rainforests @_@

Random creepy branch that looks like a hand that wants to cup your boobies hahaha!!!

And random pretty yellow flowers!!!

Sam took this shot, so it’s not really in focus but I do like the colours and composition.

Here comes my favourite part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So exciting :DD

Our last main activity for the day was going on a HELICOPTER RIDE!! ♥

Wooohooo so psyched, I’ve always wondered what it’s like to be in a helicopter but never got the chance to, NOW I CAN SAY I HAVE!!

Been on an aeroplane plane, been parasailing, been hot air ballooning, been on a helicopter,.. what other sky / air-related activities can I do?

I’m DYING to try out hang gliding, it looks wicked!!!!!

I am exceptionally pleased because my first helicopter ride was over a magnificently scenic place – the Twelve Apostles!!!

One of Australia’s most famous natural marks, along with the Great Barrier Reef…

It’s funny though, they’re actually limestone formations so apparently many have corroded and been washed away / broke into pieces since they were first named “Twelve Apostles” and right now I think there are only five or six “Apotles” left, instead of 12.

Go see them before they are all gone!!

It was another spontaneous decision that we made on the spot, I didn’t know they offered flights over the Twelve Apostles until we got there and saw a crowd outside this building!!

I looked at Sam with big twinkling eyes saying, “OMG DO YOU WANNA GO ON A HELICOPTER RIDE??”

he was like, “Hell yeah!!!”

…And that’s why I love you, hehe!!!

Helicopter lifting off!! Extremely noisy, but not quite as windy as I thought (you see them making mini tornados in movies lol)

OUR TURN NEXT!!!

Ours was the special red copter instead of the yellow one, for a higher price, they’ll fly you much closer to the water (200m) instead of the usual 500m for much better views!

I half-ran over to the helicopter in excitement, heart racing and eyes still squinting in the blinding sun…

I had a little bit of trouble climbing into the front seats (very high!) but before I knew it, I was strapped in and we were lifting off!!! MAD!

Hello handsome pilot of the day!!! Hehe.

The moment you enter the copter, you’re given these headphones to put on and it instantly drowns out the loud noise the chopper blades are making!

And you get to converse with your other passengers through the microphones.

Taking offfffffffffff!!!

It was surprisingly unstable (that’s what it felt like at least) like the chopper was swaying left and right for quite a bit before it stabilized and increased height steadily. Super exciting!

As with all flying experiences, this one was really unique.

It was in no way like flying in a plane, because in a chopper you can feel EVERY single movement the pilot makes, like when he turns left, you entire body is tilted left and you can actually feel it because you see it and the chopper is much smaller than a commercial plane!!

Love it!! I always let out a lil squeal whenever there’s a change of direction hahaha

Behold, THE TWELVE APOSTLES!!! (well they’re somewhere there haha)

Aren’t they maaaaaaarvelous?

Trying to take photos of something 200m below you while in a swaying chopper with manual focus in harsh sunlight proves to be a bigger challenge than it sounds!!

I’m sold – there is no better way to look at a coastline than from above :)

I WANTED TO SEE WHALES!!! Apparently they’d spotted 2 earlier in the noon.

Mad jealous!

Me: Mr Pilot, can I take a shot of you?”

Mr Pilot: If you want, but I wouldn’t see why… the coastline down on your left is much more attractive.

*feels like I’m falling over*

And now we’re officially flying OVER WATER!

I’m sorry that the photos don’t do it very much justice, but this was honestly one of the most breathtaking moment in my life.

I remember my heart beating really fast and trying to catch my breath while screaming in my head, “OMG THIS IS SO SURREAL!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!”

You HAVE to see this for yourself… :’)

Sam in the back!!! He let me have the front seat :)

OMG do you see what I see??

………It’s an island shaped like a SEAHORSE.

It even has an eye, wtf! The head and body and everything looks completely like a sea horse. What are the odds…

Tell me I’m not crazy and that you see it too!

Last picture of the Twelve Apostles!!!!

Simply put – Majestic would be an understatement.

Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful places in the world. Thanks for the recommendation, random website and google!

What an experience!!
Feel like jumping for joy just by blogging about it :)

My post is coming to an end soon, here’s ending off with some last few pictures of more beautiful coastline!

It’s not called the Great OCEAN road for nothing!

Great Ocean Road, you’ve been great indeed.

We had such an incredible time traveling down your winding coastal roads…. Thank you.

I don’t know why I always say thank you at the end of such posts, even when there’s nobody in particular to thank.

I just feel the need to give thanks, because I feel so damn fortunate, I’m afraid that by not being appreciative, my opportunities to see more of the world and have more of such inspiring experiences would be limited.

Sounds silly, I know… but it’s always a good thing to count your blessings :’)

P.S – Missing you baby.

You are mostly the one I should give thanks to for all the sheer happiness you’ve given me.

xoxo,
Jess

Fremantle, baby!!!

A gorgeous start to one of my favourite days out of all the time I spent in Western Australia!!

That’s the view from our hotel room’s balcony in Metro Hotel on Canning Highway

Quite a modern contemporary hotel with relatively big rooms but I had a weird feeling about that place!!! The moment I stepped into the room, I felt creeped out.. Lol I guess I’ll keep that drama to myself.

We woke up, got ourselves some Mac’s for a hearty breakfast, drove down to Gwen’s place to pick her up then we’re off to Fremantle (30 mins drive from Perth City) where a super long day awaits us!!!

Come to think of it, this is probably one of the most spontaneous holidays I’ve ever had…

I didn’t even pack till a few hours before my flight, and I only booked my flight about 2 days before departure, and we never knew what we were actually gonna do wherever we were going only until the day itself!

Sometimes it’s really annoying, because I prefer having things meticulously planned but I guess being surprised is always fun.

Feeling so hippie in my beanie and aviators LOL.

I ♥ beanies,
an instant fix if you’re too lazy to style your hair or if you’re having a bad hair day! Any other head wear looks like crap on me (coz my head is hugeeee)

You can tell by the picture above that there’s smudges on my camera lens!! Or rather, its lens filter. I got really bummed out because a lot of pictures taken with it turned out all smudgey and yucky and desaturated..

DSLRs are so high maintenance!! D:

Was dying to go a camera shop to buy some cleaning agent.

Haiiiiii Gwennypoo!!!

Hehehe I can’t wait to go back to WA in a couple of months again ♥

Then we’ll go to Ningaloo Reef and Monkey Mia, OK OK OK?!?

Had lunch at this little cafe by the road… Fremantle has an abundance of quaint little places to eat!!

I wish I’d taken more pictures of the shops they had and actually browsed around more.

Figuring out what to have for lunch!!!

I am incredibly picky sometimes lol. And I ALWAYS end up having Sam’s meal….

How come there’s something about other peoples food that’s just so bloody tempting?

Oh oh these pictures were taken after my camera got cleaned!!! YAY!

I was worried that my lenses got scratched by sea salt and the rough winds when we went whale watching, but turns out only the lens filter was very dirty, a little bit of cleaning and it was good as new!

♥ our matching bright happy beanies!!!

Gwen’s like, “Omg! Your contact lenses are so nice in this pic!!”

So we did a close up of my eyes!!!!

As you can tell I have NO eyebrows... Not because I shaved it all off, but because I have very ugly and sparse eyebrows by nature anyway!

You have no idea how hard it is to draw them to look real sometimes.

Boo!!!!

Our lunch orders were taking amazingly long (really busy day as you can see!!) so we took lotsa shots while waiting for food!

Food comes REALLY SLOW in Australia..

….YES more pics!!!!

…Enough of pretty pics. Hungry people ain’t a pretty sight.

NEED FOOD NAOZ!!!!!!!!!!! Been like 40 minutes, bitch!

LOL inspired by Ariel at dinner!!

WHO’S a fan of The Little Mermaid and many other classic Disney films? *raises hand*

I didn’t like Sleeping Beauty though, really boring and Snow White was worse!! The seven dwarves were annoying and Snow White is so ugly. (and creepy)

Started to take close up shots of peoples faces to cure my boredom… Sam is not amused

These people are like, “wtf can’t you leave hungry people alone while they wait for their food, bitch?!?”

Nah just kidding, she loves me. ^___^

DON’T YOU?! *takes out fork*

He looks like a little boy who got his candy stolen. Don’t worry baby, food will be here soon….

I start to tickle him and he starts to grin. Heeheheee

GAWD.. finally our food is heeeere!!!

Mushroom risotto is mine. How come so many places can’t do it right? It’s always too sour or cheesy or the shrooms taste weird.. meh.

I’m gonna try cook it myself some day!

Sam’s massive meal of EVERYTHING. Pork, beef, chicken, spinach, etc…

Yum, I love spinach!! Maybe it’s because Popeye always made it look so healthy and yummy lol

Gwen’s equally massive bowl of Minestrone soup with pasta!! Yummm so good :)

I’m not a fan of soup but minestrone has to be one of my favs!! Light, healthy (ermm relatively?!?) and such a refreshing change from all the heavy stuff I usually take…

After lunch, where are the gluttons off to?…

To have dessert, of course!!!

I don’t know about you, but I always feel like my meal is incomplete without something sweet at the end! Be it a slice of chocolate cake, some pudding or ice cream and even a soft drink…

I’d feel really uncomfortable and unsatisfied without satisfying my sweet tooth.

Woooooo look at their GINORMOUS cakes!!! So yummy :)

Expensive chocolate.. AUD 2.50 for a piece wtf! We stupidly bought 2 because we wanted to see what the big deal was about.

They’re alright, nothing fantastic though.. Not such a big choc fan!!

THIS!!! Is to die for!!!

Deep fried (I think) churros and you get awesome chocs to dip with! It’s a lot crispier and less cinnamon-y than your average churros..

Mmmm I still remember the first time I ever had churros was with my dad in Cali’s Disneyland!

Nom nom nomzz!!!

After an extremely satisfying dessert *burps* we went walking around their shops, bought some snacks from a Japanese supermart (they have super yummeh snacks!) and off we go for a lazy stroll in the parks!

HAHAHA me and Gwen saw some kids playing on this netted thingy in the playground and I’m like, “Hey that looks fun.. I feel like going on it” and Gwen’s like, “OK LET’S GO!!” lolol

It IS really fun, manipulating your way around small openings and climbing around thin ropes!!!! Felt like such a kid again.

Screw being mature! I love playgrounds and Disney films.

Wow we look really weird here

Hehehehe we kept jumping up and down and I think it scared some kids away because it was swinging so vigorously!!!

We decided to race each other to the top… but I gave up halfway cuz there was just too many kids and it was actually quite difficult! LOL the kids are like, “WTF is this king kong doing here?”

“Ain’t about how fast I get there, ain’t about how many kids I have to push kids off my sideeeeee… it’s the climb!!!!”

LOL congratulations Sam…
do you want a medal for that? :P

HAHAHA OMG everybody please stare at Sam’s TOP MODEL POSE!!!

I roflmao-ed when I first saw this picture.

You get ‘em, gurl!!!! WORK IT!!!!! ;)

Got off the bouncy net thingy to give Gwenny a hug. ♥

Gwen is such a ball of energy!! She never seems to get tired, and even when she is, she’s still singing and bouncing around

It’s blurry because we’re bouncing!!!

The look of concentration on her face…. Climbing ropes is tough work!

The best thing about Fremantle is how peaceful and beautiful it is…. the perfect place for a quiet, peaceful weekend. A gorgeous beach, gorgeous parks, gorgeous cafes… Gorgeous everything!!!

Not that much further down is Cottesloe and a couple of other amazing beaches.. Sigh so lucky!

It was a great day to just sit on the grass and have idle chatter while soaking in the sunshine and great weather…

(even though I’m not exactly a “sit on the grass” kinda person. I must have mat, cuz I’m terrified and paranoid about insects!)

Freo was very nice though.. really clean, and no animal poop in the parks!

Awww I love the overwhelming barrage of happy photos taken in Freo!!! ♥

Gwen is exactly that sort of amazing friend that you don’t have to talk to often but every time you do, it feels like nothing has changed since the last time you did.. even though I haven’t seen her for a whole YEAR before this!!!

MISS YA GIRLIE!!!!!

Hahaha yea she likes hugging me B)

Oh I KINDA miss my long hair!!!

We look so lesbian here… *shy*

I can’t believe how well she got along with my mum, too!!!

I left her and Gwen in the car for one hour once, when me and Sam decided to go look at some kangaroos and they didn’t wanna come..

I thought it would be awkward and boring for them, but when I came back, they were laughing and seemed to be having a great time!! WTF!

They were like cracking jokes and sharing personal details and whatever, and when I asked them what’s so interesting / funny, they winked to each other and my mum said, “It’s our little secret.”

Even I don’t get along that well with my own mother, LOL, FML x 999.

Me putting on a different pair of sunnies (I usually carry around 2-3 in my bag lol! I love my sunnies) and lending Sam my aviators!!!

It was wayyy too bright to not wear any

Hahahahaha I love these shots, we’re just sitting under the same TREE and snapping away

♥ I wanna print these out and stick em all over my room!!!

You can only take such shots in places like Australia….

Who would even dream of going to the park in SG? Death by heat stroke!!

This time without the bag!!

Gwen bought some ice cream.. obviously very pleased with herself

And she shares it with me!!! Awwww… ♥

But this is her expression when Sam asks for some. LOL

I bought a milkshake from the same store, which happened to be the worst milkshake I’ve ever had in my life… Tasted like milk with caramel syrup only!!!

I LOVE this pic of Gwen!!!

It is soooo adorable but she thinks it’s ugly, I’ve no idea why… Look at the twinkle in her eyes when she nomz on ice cream!

After ice cream and milkshakes, we head over to the beach (everything is like a few metres within each other) and I was so tempted to take a dip, although it wasn’t ideal cuz it was winter and beaches are kinda yucky then… with washed up sea weed and whatnots

Nonetheless it’s a great place to take piccys still!!!

LOL this pic is of me and Gwen going like, “Dude it’s been nice taking a stroll down the beach and all… but where the hell do we sit now?!? Seaweed covers every inch of this beach!”

We finally found a nice little dry spot…

Sam really likes taking pics now! So glad I turned him into a shutterbug hehe. He is also a mini Harry Potter fan now!! AWESOME

There’s something about the sound of crashing waves, gentle sea breezes and the smell of sea salt in the air that never fails to make me feel like I’m at peace with the world.

We walk around Freo to explore this really old building thing which apparently has historical value, but for the life of me, I can’t recall what it’s called!

Random pretty flower in the area.. I’m always fascinated by that one strong plant that survives winter conditions when everything else in the garden is dead

Sam and his obsession with canons

We found a cosy little spot near the beach and sat down playing games on the iphone together for about two hours…

GEEKS!!!

The iphone is so much fun though, with games like “Photo Hunt” and anagram solvers!!

My fav kinda iphone apps are the word-related ones… like scrabble games, or 25 000 free jokes etc. Every time you open the app, you get a new experience.

What are some of your favourite iphone apps?

Oh I haven’t had camwhoring shots like these in AGES! Taken with my PnS compact digital camera. Sometimes I wish DSLRs were less bulky and anal to handle :3

Loved my outfit that day!! Everything was bought in Harbour Town – discount factory outlets FTW! Cheap and pretty clothes and a practically empty shopping mall.

The white thing under my butt is a plastic bag that I ripped in half so that I could sit on it LOL to limit the amount of exposed area I have to touch grass with!

Gwen iz iphone addict!!

Awwwww finally a picture of my BABY!!!!

People keep asking me what camera I use, and even though I’ve mentioned it so many times before, I still get the same questions… It’s a canon 550d, people. I use the normal kit lens!

Buying this camera is probably one of my best purchases EVER… capturing beautiful memories in astounding vivid detail!!!!

Photos can tell you so much about things that words just can’t explain ♥

After some time, we noticed it started getting dark, so we quickly whipped out my camera for to capture the sunset!!

I’m actually shielding my eyes from the bright sun but it looks like I’m saluting instead… Wanna see the view I was looking at?

Behold…..

Just SO captivating…
what a gorgeous town indeed!!!! :)

Sam being enchanted by the serene views

We ran down to the beach to take more pictures with the sunset before it was all over…

The best part of the sunset only lasts for like 5 minutes, so you gotta do it at exactly the right timing!

I love the orange painted horizon!!!!!

Perfect backdrop, against turqoise waters and the picturesque dock!

I got the best of both worlds in my arms ;)

Looking at these pics makes my heart flutter~

HAHAHA awwww!!!!!!!

These pics were taken with my digital camera instead! I wanted to see how different the sunset would look

KISS ME DAMN IT! :P

Omg we even got a sea gull in our picture!!! NEAT!!!!

Totally completes the sunset on the beach look :’)

Sam wants to jump into the ocean… or into the sky?

Last picture on the beach before it got too dark to take anymore!!!

Blake came to meet us for dinner, and I don’t know why we didn’t take any pics at all of the supposedly “best fish and chips” in Western Australia!!

Guess we were all just too tired and hungry…

We did take more pics at the playground though! We were like, “Omg Blake, we had so much fun at the playground today, you have to check it out!” lol

Yeah Blake likes it too!!!

Every time I get onto a kids swing… I’m TERRIFIED that I’d break it and it would crumble on me.

The creaking chains make me really uncomfortable!

Hehehehe I reckon playgrounds are awesome fun in the night because all the kids and parents have gone home, the whole place is yours!!!

You can run around screaming like a goon at the top of your lungs and nobody would care.

Wooooo

Hahaha I still love you!

Blake and Gwen have their go… Aw look at them!!

Me and Sam could never do that… the swing would either crash on us or we wouldn’t even be able to move it back and forth LOL

So cute!!! ♥

And he almost kicked me in the face.

LMAO I dunno why, but Sam suddenly decided to do some model poses on the park bench…

This is the “I got a headache pose”

The “Omg it’s because I’m PREGGERS” pose

And this… LOL I guess it’s the “I just gave birth” pose?!?!?

Blake challenges Sam’s modeling… MEOW!

Oh yeah you want some of that!!!!

I think Sam eventually won the competition though, because he took off his top and started posing topless LOL.. but you don’t really wanna see pics of that though.

…Or do you? ^_~

“Have you been high today? …I see the nuns are gay!!!” – *dances to Benny Lava*

The boys having their manly talk.. probably discussing whose pose was sexier :P

Hahaha wth is wrong with Blakey’s mouth?!?

Me and Sam attempt to do the same… but we’re too fat and can’t slide down the kids slide LOL #FAIL

I used to love climbing up these things when I was a kid!

I think we should save the beanies for me, sweetie…

Sam has this weird fascination with my accessories.. Be it necklaces, beanies, scarves, and even MAKE UP…

He wants to try them all on and he always says it looks better on him LOL

As in he’d literally strut around posing in front of the mirror!! Woops, your secret is out babe :P

Blake went CRAZY on the suspended rope pyramid thingy…

That’s him jumping freakishly high without holding onto anything with his hands!!!!

Gwen got so worried, and it was sweet how she can be so motherly sometimes and he’s kinda childish in a very compatible way.. she takes good care of him.’

Our last activity for the day: FISHING!!!

I was actually really excited but I’ve never been fishing… I don’t even want to go prawning, coz it stinks! But it’s not so bad in Aus coz we fished by the dock.

My DSLR died, so I had to use my compact camera. That’s Blake and Gwen figuring out all the fishing equipment..

They all have experience, except me!!

We even had portable chairs and hot chocolate!!!

Armed with those and 2 iphones and an ipod dock, we’re all set for the night…

Gwen says she’s spotted DOLPHINS AND STING RAYS in the waters of this very dock in the past!! Omg mad jealous. I haven’t seen anything in open waters before… why do I have such rotten luck?

I’ve seen the dorsal fin and back and tail fluke of an unknown whale though :S

I’m wrapped up in Sam’s thick jacket coz it was AMAZINGLY cold at night, especially by the sea!!!! Mind numbingly cold… Had to hold the hot chocolate in my hands to prevent my fingers from going numb.

And I’m looking down in horror as Blake cuts up some squid and other yucky bait… Omg I don’t like the idea of handling hooks / bait, no wonder I’ve never gone fishing!

Sam casting his line!!!!!

It’s my turn to cast my line now, and OMFG WILL YOU LOOK AT THAT TERRIFIED FACE!!!

I think that was taken at the very second someone told me, “Hey, be careful… you’re gonna take someones eye out with that / it’s gonna get caught on someones ear!!” and I freaked out.

Hahahaha omg what an unflattering picture!!!

Blake’s a pro at it….

I guess fishing is kinda fun, when you go with the right people and when you have stuff like iphones and ipod docks to keep ya company!

Of course it helped that we had a pretty view of all the night lights and cruise ships going by to keep us entertained :)

With good company, doing ANYTHING is fun! ♥

We got a few bites, but didn’t end up catching any fish at all… What did I tell ya? These wild animals HATE ME!!! I swear they do anything to avoid me at all cost.

I really cannot fucking wait to see something spontaneous in the ocean one day… I want my own boat when I’m older!

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Even though we didn’t catch any fish, other interesting stuff still happened!

Me and Gwen were feeding some fungry sea gulls our left over biscuits and it was really funny seeing them fight over the crumbs…

There was one sea gull who’s particularly PMS-y, it wasn’t very quick so the other birds would always get its food first, then it got really pissed off and started running after the other sea gulls and they’d make hilarious squawking noises!!!

Birds don’t really “run”, but when they do, it’s like ROFL

.
.
.
.
.
.
.

When we were done feeding the sea gulls, us girls then realized we desperately needed to pee but there wasn’t any toilets nearby and the only place we could pee was behind some bushes by the road.

FML this always happens to me la!!!!

Anyway Gwen’s like, “Omg Jess I can’t do it, I don’t know how to just go in public like that, you do it first!!!”

And I’m like, “It’s no big deal, you just pull down your pants and go… It’s like 12am and we’re in the middle of nowhere, nobody’s gonna see us!”

So I told Gwen to keep a look out for me, “Let me know if you see any cars coming, ok!!”

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

……………I was almost halfway done with whatever I was doing when OUT OF NOWHERE this car drives right past me and I could’ve sworn I saw them staring at me through the window and I started screaming and freaking out

and I was like, “OMG GWEN!!!! WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME!!”

And she’s like “Oh but I didn’t see them!!!” and we both started shrieking hysterically. Soooooooo funny!!!

It’s always the little moments that make trips with friends like that so fun ♥

LOL I’m ending off this post with a hilarious picture of Sam zonked out on the dock.

He’s crazy, he just put his rod aside and decides to sleep on the super cold concrete!!!

Look at that… What a goner.

Thanks for all the fun, guys! :’)

Kings Park

Today’s the first time we actually got to hang out in Perth itself, after being in Western Australia for a couple of days…

We’d read amazing reviews about this restaurant called Zafferanos online so we headed there for lunch!!!

Sam admiring the awesome view of Swan River right outside the restaurant…

We wanted to go jet skiing down the swan river but it was winter and too cold :(

There’s always next time though!!!

“Outside the restaurant” just happened to be a very photogenic place.

I was telling Sam how he lacks imagination..

Why do people ALWAYS take photos that are full frontal and perfectly aligned straight? Why can’t they experiment with interesting backdrops and angles?

An example of something different would be something like this…

Well obviously it’s not the best pic, but y’know, makes the picture so much more dynamic and fresh!

So… this was what he came up with afterwards.

LOL decent enough I suppose >___> Photo editing saves everything!!!!

While Sam was playing around with my camera, I took some time to just sit on the bench and take in the views….

Lovely weather that day. Didn’t realize he snapped a pic of me zoning out!!!

I do this a lot… I just stare into space and I look like I’m blanking out, but the truth is, my mind is racing with a million and one thoughts going through it :)

Analyzing my environment, thinking about unrelated things that happened recently, wondering what I’m going to do next..

Just thinking about life in general.

Random pic of plants outside the restaurant

Sparkling water!!!! Perfect drink for any meal.

Ever since I got hooked onto sparkling water, I refuse to drink plain water unless I’m really thirsty…

It’s just so mediocre tasting LOL I like my gassy drinks

Wow I look icky here but I’ll post the pic anyway

Complimentary Turkish bread with dips because the waiter said our steak’s gonna take awhile!!! LOVE it. It was $14 on the menu.

Crazy how expensive bread can get..

But totally worth it. The dips were amazing and turkish bread is fluffy on the inside and a little crispy on the outside! What have I been missing out on for all my life?

One of the best steak me and Sam have ever had!!!!

Roasted pumpkin with cherry tomatoes salad!! Yummy!

Smoked salmon anything is always good ♥ Even better when paired with a creamy quiche!!!

Extremely satisfying meal. (Y)

Throughout lunch me and Sam were like, “OMG THIS IS GOOD… Oooohh mmm ahhh” lol foodgasm!!!

We left with big smile on our faces.

After the extremely tiring Albany road trip, all we wanted to do was laze around, so I suggested going to Kings Park...

A quiet but beautiful park with paranomic views of the city skyline ♥

So relaxing!

Strolling through a serene park on a beautiful day after an amazing meal = ♥!!!!

Wild mushrooms growing on the ground!!!! I wonder if they’ll taste yummy :P

Omg I feel like some creamy mushroom pasta now

For some reason we took heaps of shots like this that day… I guess it’s to match the laid-back mood of the day!

I always tell Sam… DON’T point my camera at direct harsh sunlight!!! T_T

I’m really protective when it comes to my camera… I MUST make sure it’s constantly held by somebody (cannot leave it on the ground or in my bag unless it’s wrapped up)

I remember I accidentally dropped it in the ground once… It made the LOUDEST “thud” and my heart stopped.

Thank god it wasn’t damaged (I think)

And my lens got pretty fucked up because of my whale watching trip… heaps of smudges and salt water on it. Didn’t bring my cleaning agent too. FML x 100

It was winter, so it wasn’t exactly the best time to visit a park / garden… most of the flowers were dead, but here’s a few shots of the survivors!!

I can’t wait to go back during spring and see the wildflowers!

Apparently when in season, these wildflowers grow so vastly, gardens of wild colorful flowers stretch on as far as your eyes can see!!!!! I ♥ flowers

This shade of lilac / lavender is so cute!!!

Dead trees in the winter

Everytime I see a tree with bald branches and a dark silhouette sticking out like this, I think of vultures and south africa in the sunset Don’t you?!

We were just strolling around their gardens when we saw this queer little sign:

Sam insisted we should snap a pic of it, put it on my blog and prove everybody wrong :P

I’m not exactly sure what flower this is, but I think it’s a poppy. A yellow poppy.

Sam was surprised I actually knew what it was (we assumed I’m right) and I’m quite shocked myself because I’ve never actually SEEN a poppy with my own eyes, but I’ve read about them many times in Enid Blyton story books when I was a kid…

She always described them as cute little red flowers - when the children characters rolled around in the gardens and sniffed flowers, they would always come back with black, dusty noses because of the poppy’s black centres!!!

Did you know that cocaine used to be made out of poppy seeds? I used to wonder if the children got high while sniffing them hahaha.. the musings of a 10 year old.

It was a war memorial site for their fallen soldiers…

Even though it wasn’t my own country being involved, I felt pretty emotional when reading the messages left for their war heroes and it’s nice to know people still remember and honour people who died for their country decades ago.

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Ok enough of deep stuff…

Back to narcissistic me!!!

In Sam’s defense, he takes pretty good pictures sometimes :P

I was like, “this is so relaxing!!!” and it made me wanna put my hands behind my head, lie back on a beach chair and sip some coconut juice… then I remembered I was in a park, not a beach. Wtf.

We stop by their Botanical Cafe for some ice cream and hot chocolate!!! That must be the most appetizing hot cocoa ever.

After our tea break, we left the cafe and the moment I stepped outside, I was like

“WOAAAHHHHHHHH!!!”

IT’S A DOUBLE RAINBOW!!!!!

OH MY GOD!!!

It’s so0o0oo bright and beautiful… and it’s starting to look like a TRIPLE rainbow now.

Oh my god what does this mean?!?!

HAHAHA ok you HAVE to watch this!!!!

It’s a video of some random guy who had triple orgasms by looking at double (or triple) rainbows. It cracked me up soooo much.

I normally don’t approve of drugs, but I WANT WHATEVER HE’S ON!!!!!!

Love how random stupid but hilarious videos like these go viral on the internet… and everyone laughs at the same damn thing. But this guy is my hero.

DOUBLE RAINBOW FTW!

Seriously though, cameras cannot capture rainbows quite as vivid as they are in real life…

They look so small and faint in these pics but I’ve never seen a more vibrant and bigger rainbow!!!!

It was MASSIVE… usually you only see one part of the rainbow, but I was able to see the whole rainbow stretch across the city skyline and the swan river….

I could almost see the pot of gold at the end ;)

It was the most beautiful rainbow I’d ever seen!!!!!

It was so gorgeous, I got all excited like a little girl seeing a rainbow for the first time…

In Singapore, I see rainbows maybe like once a year or even lesser. I haven’t seen one in AGES and I was just thrilled to see such a big one, paired with the most amazing view of Perth City!

This was actually the first of like 6 I saw in total over the 2 weeks that I was in Perth.

This is what I’m talking about.

I felt like I was at the right place, at the right time… and that Perth was putting on a show for me!

SO beautiful, if only I could’ve captured its full glory on camera.

Jess

ROAD TRIP TO ALBANY!!!! Part 3

Rise and Shine!!!!

Today we’re going to see some WHALES WOOHOHOHOHOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Whale-watching FTW!! I feel like such an animal person now haha. Only hardcore animal enthusiasts go on whale-watching tours… they’re expensive + not guaranteed contact + very challenging boat trip that makes everyone puke on board.

Like, REAL WHALES IN THE REAL OCEAN!!

I’m hardly ever on the ocean, since boating is not that common for Singaporeans, so the only time I’m ever out at sea is when I’m on holidays… but I’ve never seen a dolphin in open waters before!!!

I’ve been on a number of boat trips, taken cruises, been to snorkeling islands and all that shit but I’ve never even seen a whale, or a dolphin, or a turtle, or.. JUST ANYTHING LAH!!

I only see all these beautiful creatures in captivity, and as much as I love Sea World and their animals, seeing wild animals is a different kind of thrill altogether..

Getting onto the boat!!!!

I was mad excited but kinda skeptical at the same time.

I’ve never had any luck with animals. They all seem to hate me, even my very own hamster.. Well all except these two killer whales!! They’re my best friends.

I wasn’t convinced that we were gonna see any this trip…

I wanted to be optimistic, but hey, the last time I went on a dolphin-spotting boat trip that offered 100% sighting rate, I got completely soaked and the boat almost capsized but no effing dolphins.

I kept bugging Sammy boy by asking him every few minutes, “OMG are you sure we’re gonna see whales?!?” and he’s like, “Of course we will!”

Leaving Albany’s dock. Great weather to start the morning with! ♥ Such blueeee waters

Me and Sam ran to the front of the boat and sat down right at the tip!!

Hehe they have these nets that you can sit on, let your feet dangle freely and look RIGHT down into the ocean!! The feeling is like being suspended right above the ocean… Awesome, but scary.

I was hoping to see some fishes and stuff but obviously we didn’t -_-

Gorgeous :’)

Or at least, it started out gorgeous... Weather turned pretty shitty after awhile and it was rocking harder than a roller coaster.

I’m not scared of roller coasters at all, but being on boats fucking shit me… When conditions get rough, you HAVE to hold on really tight when the boat dips otherwise you’re sure to fly out of the boat and into the ocean.

We had to hold onto the hand rails with all our might… I’ve never been on a rougher boat and I wasn’t expecting it to be so bad since there were kids on board!!

They were mostly inside the cabin puking though.

Sam feeling miserably cold…

LOL why do we always go on boat rides when it’s winter?! Fucking cold as shit then you get icy sea water all over your body!! Like 60% soaked, no kidding.

G + B!!!

Open your eyes boy!!!

Why do guys never keep their eyes open long enough for photographs? They’re always either squinting or blinking! Girls don’t seem to have this problem! (probably cuz we’re professional camwhores)

Hehehe that’s better ♥

We had loads of time to soak up the sun and take in the view, because we had to travel out quite a bit to see the whales… they don’t come that near to shore! I was desperately looking all over for the sight of misty air coming out of their blowholes (first sign when spotting a whale!)

Happy munchkins!!!!!!!

Hahahaha Sam is sooo awkward in pictures, he makes me awkward too because he’s leaning over and I’m like wtf am I supposed to lean on Blake?

Extreme whale lover on board!!!!!!

When the tour guide asked us questions about the whales, I was like “OH OH I KNOW!!!” *raises hand* like the annoying smarty pants in school who knows all the answers to questions people don’t care about hahaha

If you squint really hard, you can see some baby sea lions!

They’re so chill and cute, lying on the rocks basking in the sun and sometimes playfully waving at us and jumping into the water to cool off ♥

By this time, we had already seen some whales!!!!

I couldn’t take any pictures because they appear for like ONE SECOND and then they’re gone..

Even though the encounter was extremely brief, I was really happy that I could see them anyway…

THEY’RE FUCKING HUGE!!!!!!!!!

Like 16m ish long?
Can you even IMAGINE being in presence of something that huge? (They were southern right whales)

How disposable and insignificant would you feel?

And you thought elephants were big!!!

Fun Fact: Southern Right Whales have the biggest testicles of all animals, weighing 500kg each. Woohoooo

Thank goodness whales are extremely gentle creatures, so you never have to worry about being attacked or harmed by them if you see one in the ocean!

In fact, many whales and dolphins are known to have SAVED human lives and seek out affectionate interaction… what lovely creatures :’)

So graceful, gentle, intelligent and awe-inspiring!!!

I was hoping to see the whales come close to the boat, or perhaps even see them breaching, but the best we all got was seeing its dorsal fin and tail fluke poke out of the water when it surfaced for a breath before diving again…

They seemed disinterested in interacting, so we didn’t chase them for very long :(

It was a really cool joint experience though, it’s like 40 strangers embarked on a journey and a mission together – to seek out whales in the ocean!!!

Whenever someone shouted, “LOOK!!!! THERE!!!” everyone will gasp and run to the side of the boat pointed at… really fun trying to balance ourselves on the super rocky boat + run around trying to spot whales at the same time!

The anticipation is INTENSE and people are just looking everywhere because they are very hard to predict..

When they take deep dives into the ocean, you have to guess where they’re gonna pop up next and it’s really confusing but thrilling at the same time!!

But also frustrating when you didn’t see what others saw just because you were looking at the other direction at that very second.

I won’t forget my first whale watching experience... because my most vivid image of the whole experience is this:

pic credit: komar.org

An enormous tail fluke against the bright sun… it was glistening as if it was magical, like Edward Cullen lol.

BUT NOW I CAN SAY I’VE SEEN A WHALE!!!!… ‘s tail fluke.

Now, I need to go seek out wild killer whales, and swim in the water with them… only then can I die in peace!!! I wanna see wild killer whales SO badly. Me and Sam have already planned how we’re going to do it.. We’re gonna save up enough money to go on a VIP trip with an Orca researcher!!!

I mean it’s such a brilliant idea right.. what other way to see whales is better than going with a researcher with a PhD related to orcas?
She takes you around different New Zealand islands to swim with dolphins, see other porpoises, sea lions, and of course killer whales….

THAT’S SO BLOODY AWESOME OMG I cannot wait.. I’m hyperventilating just thinking about it now.

(notice what I said about guys never opening their eyes in pics?)

Chinese food for lunch!!!!

After being on the water for 5 hours, we were absolutely starving…

Yes, FIVE HOURS because the weather was so bad that we had to go extremely slow. We all wanted to puke, Sam and about 70% of the other passengers actually did hahaha I’m so proud of myself for not puking because I get motion sickness so easily…

I even managed to fall asleep WTF. My mind is win. When it knows I’m going to spew everywhere, it orders me to sleep immediately!

Thinking about what to eat that’s actually worth my money…

Chinese food is so ridiculously expensive here!! It’s like 15 AUD for a bowl of fishball noodles or something -_-

I should open a restaurant in aus!! Super expensive food everywhere and people are willing to pay the money.

Gwen and Blake kept draining our iphone batteries because they were hooked onto angry birds.. that game is so viral!!!

Random unflattering pic of me and Sam leaving the restaurant

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

We decided to drive out to the coastline to get more scenic photographs taken… which was a fantastic idea because it was one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen!!!

On our way there (driving in Aus is so fun!), I made them stop the car by the road side to snap some pics!! Everything is sooo vibrant I love it. Happy photos make me happy.

We drove to the famous rock formation called “The Gap”, and The Gap is pretty much located in the middle of NOWHERE and unfortunately for me, I felt a desperate urge to pee the moment we got there but there was no toilets anywhere near because we were right by the coastline!!!!

I couldn’t just pee on the side of the road either, since it’s a tourist spot and lots of people come and go… no secluded or hidden area!!

Sam told me to go do my business here. Who would pee in a place like this?!? What if insects or worms or some creature flies up my ass or something omg or a snake will bite my butt cheeks!!! *wild imagination*

I was seriously freaking out, feeling very miserable that I’m always caught in unlucky-nowhere-to-pee situations and then I spot THIS!

A family caravan!!!!!!!!!!

I was crossing my fingers and hoping really badly that whichever family who owns this caravan would return to their vehicle soon and allow me to use their bathroom… but Sam said I should just pee on the grass since they may not return for another hour.

Very thankfully, it was only a couple more minutes before I saw a family walking towards the caravan and I ran up to them asking if I could pee in it LOLOL well I didn’t phrase it like that exactly, but yeah, basically I went like, “Hi, I really need to pee and there’s nowhere for me to go here, can I use your caravan’s bathroom?”

Thank goodness they were really kind and allowed me! They said they’d hate to have to pee in the middle of nowhere too. Yay for kind Aussies!!!! ♥

(well not like they could reject me right… so poor thing)

Bashfully coming out of their caravan, feeling very pai seh about my situation…

And OF COURSE Sam is waiting outside to take a photo of my unglamorous moment!!!

Damn you!

It’s different for a girl man.. we can’t just whip our penis out and pee into a drain. We have to full on remove our clothes and everything and aiya I don’t wanna go into full details but girls will understand how helpless we feel without proper bathrooms.

Lol delirious that I didn’t need to flash everyone while peeing on grass

With an exploding bladder finally out of my mind, now I could properly appreciate the full beauty of The Gap…

At first I didn’t think it would be impressive at all, but when I saw it for myself I was BLOWN AWAY!!!

I should’ve taken off my headband and let the wind blow my hair in all sorts of directions.. Lol I love that feeling! It was supa windy up there, could probably blow an infant right off the cliffs wtf

Looking down at massive crashing waves!!! They are SO powerful that you get water on your face if you look downwards.

This picture doesn’t really do it justice, but The Gap is basically a really deep and narrow hole inbetween what was supposed to be the edge of a cliff…

So it’s like a gash that people can look down into and see waves coming up so high at them, you feel some water droplets splashed onto your face!!

Despite the ruggard coastline and heavy, destructive waves.. it was actually a very relaxing spot to be in :)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

WE LOVE AUSTRALIA!!!

And they do too!

It’s just crazily beautiful.. you gotta be there in person yourself to appreciate its true beauty.

Sam’s a happy munchkin!!! (as you can see the weather was getting pretty bad at that time)

Gwen and Jess are two very HAPPY munchkins!!! Oh how I adore this piccy. ♥

And I never knew I could jump that high wtf

Hahahaha another supa cute jump shot but my hair’s always in my face FML. Gotta love Gwen’s over the top expressions!!!!

A natural “bridge”… weird rock formation!!!!

Last picture of G and B, and then we took a long 5 hour drive back home!

Even though the trip was pretty short, it was jam packed with activities and so much fun.

The real fun stuff was the smallest things that didn’t have to be grand like scenic cliffs or whale watching trips..

I find myself missing our karaoke singing in the car, off-beat finger snapping, blasting songs and driving at 140 along endless highways the most!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

.
.
.
.
.
.
.

OMG

The most epic part of the whole journey was when we were driving back home, and we were the only car on the seemingly endless road, in the middle of fucking nowhere…

We’ve been driving for about 3 hours straight and we were all tired but trying to keep our spirits up by blasting loud, awesome music to keep our energy pumping.

Then, Sam suddenly asks loudly and in a very anxious tone, “What the hell is that?!?” *points to his right*

We all looked and saw some red lights glowing in the distance, everything else was pitch black.

I immediately knew it was one of those communication towers (like telephone lines or something), but I jokingly said, “Geez, I don’t know, they could be red eyes that are watching you, Sam..”

(they kinda looked like those evil eyes in movies. like y’know, wolves in the woods or something!!)

…I thought he genuinely wanted to know what that was, but instead of laughing it off, he full on FREAKED OUT and stepped on the brakes and he was like,

……………
“OI, DON’T SAY THAT!! Fuck you, selfish bitch, I’ll throw a moth in your face!!!

You guys tell me WHAT THE FUCK THAT IS RIGHT NOW!!
Right now or I’m fucking stopping the car or I’ll turn back, I swear! I don’t wanna drive any nearer to it!”

……………………….

He kept shouting and freaking out and we were kinda like “WTF” for a moment.

Gwen was the first one to regain her composure (she’s the most motherly and calm!) and she reassured Sam by saying, “Don’t worry, it’s just one of those towers they use for communication”

.
.
.
.
.

I was still quite taken aback by his behaviour and the moth comment that I kept quiet for awhile….

….Silence fell for a few seconds……. before we all started cracking up BIG TIME.

I was like “LOL!!!!!!!! WTF was that Sam?!?”

and he replied in a very sad puppy voice, “I thought they were aliens!!!and we all burst out laughing and didn’t stop for a good 5 minutes!

It was soooooooo funny…

Sam is dead scared of aliens (like motherfucking scared, like how scared I am of moths) and he’s convinced that one day they’re gonna come and abduct him!!!

I guess the red lights did look kinda creepy, since they were glowing bright red in the middle of nowhere and you could kinda see it was attached to some building.

I guess it DID look like a UFO in a certain way… *pats Sam’s head*

I think my baby was just too tired from driving for 3 hours straight, after a very long day lol.

But that was definitely the most EPIC 5 minutes of our journey!!!! ♥ Love it! Silly boy.

I’ll try to blog as often as I can.

Lots of awesome pics and events to blog about… I’m so excited :)

Sam’s coming down in a couple of days to celebrate his birthday and our 1 year anniversary soon. OMG can you believe it’s been a year, guys?

Time flies!

SEE YOU ALL SOON, AND HAPPY NATIONAL DAY SINGAPORE!!!!

Lots of love!

ROAD TRIP TO ALBANY!!!! Part 2

Continuing from this post

After we checked out the beach, we walked around the town trying to find food.. but the only thing we found was the realization that small towns like Albany have NO independent restaurants/cafes!!!

They only had Hungry Jack’s (Burger King imitation wtf) and KFC and those sort of fast food outlets…. Horrifying.

I asked Sam “what the hell do small towners eat” and he said that most of them cook their own food because eating out is unhealthy / expensive and there are very little independent restaurants / cafes because there is not enough business plus rent is expensive in town so if there ARE any cafes, they would be tucked away in obscure little corners that tourists like us would never reach.

Anyway we went to eat at Dome and took drives around the scenic little town afterwards… Didn’t take many pictures because the lighting was pretty shitty but I love driving around small towns and suburbs because I like looking at peoples houses!

In Singapore, 99% of the time I see condominiums and HDB flats…

Public housing is so boring, because you can’t see how big peoples houses are, what kind of structure and exterior design they chose, what kind of car they drive and have parked in the driveway and my favorite…

What kind of flowers they grow in their garden!!!!

It’s extra fun when they have their windows open and you can see right in!!! I love observing people and their houses… It says so much of what kind of people they are. I like watching kids run around their houses, parents lazing on the couch watching TV, families having dinner…

Makes me want my own house soooo badly too!

Not an apartment building, not a condo… A HOUSE house. Like I can call the entire thing my own!

One downside to houses though.. they have less security than condominiums and stuff. A lot less people around you, no security guards and much easier to break into! Whenever you watch burglars break into houses in movies, they always break into houses and not condos (well duh) and quite frankly I’m scared of people breaking into mine wtf I’ll tell you guys why a few days later… (we stayed at a proper house)

Gwen and Blake in front of the wind farm!! One of Albany’s trademarks.

They are hugeeeeeeeee fan-like electrical thingies that help generate electricity.. for FREEEEE! Yay for natural resources.. There’s so many around, I think it helps power most of Albany’s electricity!

Sam looks sooo much like a china man sometimes lol and note to self – full white outfits make you fucking gigantic!!!

The wind mills don’t look that big in the picture, but after this we walked nearer to them and they’re MASSIVE when you’re standing right beside it!! They must be at least 20 storeys high or something.

Awww I like this picture even though lighting is shit and it’s blurry.. I like it when Sam wraps his arms around me, yay!!

So blueeeeee :)

We went sight seeing in other places but I didn’t take any pictures coz it was dark and I suck at night photography…

I hate it when you can’t describe sightseeing properly and there’s no pictures to show either, it’s like it didn’t happen.

The only pictures I took were silly ones of us in the car lol floating Sam head

We obviously didn’t know how to use the camera back then… Had to reply on Auto Focus instead of Manual Focus because I didn’t know how to change it -___-

Actually I don’t even know why most of my photos are SUPER grainy!!! I don’t think it’s the ISO problem since it’s set on Auto? I remember playing around with the settings and I might have accidentally done something wrong to it..

Any photography experts have advice or suggestions as how to take less grainy photos? (besides the obvious – avoid low-light situations. but mine happens even in bright light)

Finally an in-focus picture…

My nose and cheeks look huge wtf and I’m lazy to photoshop it too. Why do I look extra fat in photos. I have super sharp facial structure in real life!!

…So after a few hours of having fun driving around in the dark, we popped by IGA (Australian Supermarket) and grabbed some groceries to cook dinner!

There wasn’t any nice cafes around so we decided that if we wanted to eat something nice, we’re gonna have to cook it ourselves!

I LOVE GROCERY SHOPPING!!! (In Australia)

They have an amazing variety of products… They honestly have EVERYTHING you ever need.

It’s so much fun picking out stuff that’s useful to have lying around the house… It’s annoying how I always can’t find products that I need in Singapore.

Onions!!!

They’re really big compared to the ones we get back at home. They’re a lot sweeter when they’re bigger… yummm I love onions

Big Orange!!!!

Even bigger sweet potatoes!!! Big is seriously an understatement.

One of those is all you need to feed a family of 6.. and lol @ Blake’s pose

Rabbit meatttttttttttt!!!! D:

But the bunnies are so cute…. How could you kill something so adorable sigh. I guess it helps that they’re not very smart… Killing really intelligent and social animals are so much worse. (like killer whales.. thank god they’re not hunted anymore)

I vow to never eat rabbit meat!!!! (even though I assume it must be really yummy. Twenty dollars for something so small)

Apples!!

I love apples, they’re so juicy and refreshing and not overly citrus-y.

Speaking of apples, I had a fail smoothie moment yesterday…

I came up with “brilliant” recipe in my head where I blended two apples, a cup of soy milk, some ice and green apple flavouring together, expecting it to taste awesome but needless to say it tastes like shit lol.

Apples make really shit smoothies since they leave you with a “sandy” texture instead of being smooth!! Such a pity since I really do like fresh fruit smoothies and I like apples.

We went back home and got right to making dinner!!!

Gwen preparing the onions… I didn’t want to touch them because apparently they make people cry LOL I’ve never experienced it before and I’m not intending to anytime soon.

Blake washing stuff…

I love seeing guys do household / homely / feminine things. It’s like a side of them that’s hardly seen but so very appreciated!

Couple preparing food!!!

I love cooking with them, it’s super fun cuz they are very agreeable and will help you do the tiresome stuff like washing the dishes and chopping onions and I get to do the fun part – the actual cooking process and throwing ingredients together lol

Me and my boy!!!!

Cooking is so wonderful (when you have the right ingredients and appliances) it builds up the anticipation and hunger, so even if the food is just alright it will taste amazing anyway!

Plus you get to cook it the way you want…

We’re cooking creamy mushroom pasta here, and I added extra butter, extra mushrooms, extra cream and extra onions!!! Love it. Extra everything fattening and yummy of course.

Some of you asked for the recipe and how to cook the creamy mushroom pasta that’s been featured on my blog recently…

I don’t have a full and exact recipe for you, since I pretty much googled several recipes online and fully altered them to suit my own taste, so this is my very own rendition that hopefully you guys will like too!

I love making this dish since it’s super yummy and pretty damn cheap and also much better quality than the shroom pastas I get in restaurants.

If you’re not interested in cooking, scroll down to read the rest of the post and skip this but if you wanna know how to be an awesome first-timer cook, (this recipe is fail proof) give this a shot!!!

This recipe serves 4 very hungry people (big serves) and takes a total of about 1 hour to prepare and cook!

You will need:

Two medium sized or large onions —- (because I love onions!! and also, they caramelize while sautee-ing so they don’t have that sharp, almost sour flavour.. they’re sweet and nice if you do it right)

Shitload of mushrooms —- (don’t ask me how much, ask yourself how mushroomy you want it to be and how many you wanna serve!)

Butter —- (to sautee the mushrooms and onions in, I usually don’t use oil since I love butter)

Milk —- (about a full cup of it to make the cream sauce)

Cooking Cream —- (1 and a half cup but I think we used 500ml.. I can’t remember but this is mostly for thickness and texture so you can add according to your own preferences, we like it super thick!)

Beef Stock —- (about a full cup of it to let the mushrooms sit in.. if you’re buddhist you can use chicken stock too)

Spaghetti —- (or your favourite pasta, but spaghetti works the best for this dish because of the smooth, creamy texture!)

Chicken —- (if you’re like me and you NEED meat in your dinner otherwise you’ll feel unsatisfied, add chicken!! forget this if you’re vegetarian)

Grated Cheese —- (we used parmesan but you could use mozzarella for a less strong taste)

…Ok, let’s start cooking!!!!!

First, you prepare the mushroooooooomsss!!!

Always pick the brown / button mushrooms or even better, use Portobello mushrooms!!!

Using any other mushrooms (like oyster mushrooms / shiitake mushrooms / *insert weird mushroom here*) will NOT work and would end up tasting really weird and shitty.

Trust me, I just tried it 2 days ago… I used some weird chinese mushrooms and it tasted so awful I could barely finish the whole plate of it, which is saying a lot since I usually like my own cooking.

Use a lot of mushrooms (don’t be cheap la, this meal is very cheap already!!)

I always recommend plucking out the stems because they’re super tough and bitter, which ruins the natural sweetness and smooth texture of the specific mushrooms we picked out!

After removing the stems, you can peel the skin if you like, and proceed to chop them up into really small pieces.

Mushrooms shrink when they’re cooked, but I like my mushroom pasta to have super small bits of mushrooms everywhere instead of big, awkward pieces so I’d recommend thin slices.

Onions!!

Get big ones if you can, since they’re sweeter. After peeling and slicing the onions, heat up your pan with some melted butter on it and then throw in the mushrooms + 3/4 of the onions and let them sit there for about 15 minutes!

Mushrooms take awhile to sautee and turn brown-ish and caramelize because they start to lose a lot of water… As for the onions, leave them be – you can never overcook onions.

We wanna wait until all that water is mostly dried up before continuing onto our next step!

Once most of the water from the mushrooms have dried up and your funghi starts to turn a little brown, add your 1 cup of beef stock to the same pan and just let it sit there, stirring occasionally.

What I love about this dish is how fail-proof and simple it is… All you have to do is throw in the right ingredients, let it sit there and sit occasionally! I usually cook this dish over medium high fire.

At this time you can start cooking your chicken… I’d suggest just plain boiled chicken because the mushroom sauce itself is already so flavoursome. Once they’re cooked, remove the skin and chop them into small pieces to be served together with the pasta sauce!

After about 85% of your beef stock has dried up / been absorb by the mushrooms, pour your milk in now!!

While doing this, you can also begin to cook your pasta in boiling water. Both should finish cooking around the same time.

By this time, it should look something like this….

Nicely sauteed mushrooms and onions that give off a super rich flavour that just fills up the whole kitchen!!! Love it!

You’d notice it would be milky, but just not thick and creamy enough.. if you only add milk, it’d be more like a very thin mushroom soup more than pasta sauce.

Cook it in the milk for an additional 8 minutes or so, (always remember to keep stirring) and finish off by adding your cream to the pan and cook for about 5 minutes or until cream thickens up to your desired texture!!! Just before serving, add the sliced chicken bits into the sauce pan.

Add seasoning (salt and pepper) to taste, and herbs if you wish.

Scoop a generous serving of spaghetti and creamy mushroom sauce onto plate.. and don’t forget a sprinkle of cheese on top!! We used parmesan but you could also use mozzarella for a less strong taste.

And there you have it, a super yummy mushroom pasta that’s a perfect dinner!!!

Try it and let me know how it turns out for you ;) I love it.

*continuation of normal non-cooking post here*

After a very satisfying dinner, we all jumped into the hot spa to relax and unwind!!!!

We specifically chose a villa that had a hot spa PLUS it had to be right beside the ocean… Basically, it had to be perfect :’)

I’m so gonna have one for my house next time!! (or aim to have it at least)

Chyeahhhh Blake loves it, lol! He was the first to jump in

Baby boy and me!!!

He looks like SUCH a viet here lol now that I’ve been hanging around with more vietnamese people I noticed they have a look to them!!

The boys have very deep set eyes, much like the caucasians and they usually have extremely thick, dark, well-formed eyebrows.

Fairly manly bone structure and a nose that’s inbetween asian and white, usually slightly big and lastly, lots of facial hair and thick juicy lips!!!!

Jess: “Oooh Sam you look pretty good in this pic”

Sam: “Hey thanks, you don’t look all that bad yourself Jess!”

HAHAHA we are so self-absorbed.

Woohoo the water heated up, look at all that steam!!!! A hot spa after a long and tired cold day is just HEAVEN.

I love the super cold wind blowing in our faces but our body is still kept warm and snug by the spa! Love!!

Gwenny and Blakey!

The lighting and colour was really weird so it’s kinda hard to edit properly… I made quite a lot of the upcoming photos black and white because it looks way better that way!

It’s huge!!!

Almost able to swim ahaha I reckon it could fit more than 10 people since that’s the 4 of us in one corner of it

Me being a blob underwater

Sammy boy and myself ♥ I MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAH me being an idiot but I ♥ this picture!!! It’s so happy looking *dances*

And the black and whiteness of it all makes you focus on the fun expressions solely!

Sam looking like he’s having an orgasm rofl

Me and my very pregnant stomach.

Daddy says hi… LOL

He can be soooooooo cute when he wants to be!!! ♥

Hai Gwen!!!!!!!!!

I know things haven’t been all that great for you recently but CHIN UP GIRL!! *pokes bouncy cheeks*

I’m here for you and I miss you!!!! ♥
Can’t wait to go back to Aus in the summer! BEACH FUN THEN!

Boo!

Hahaha look at Blake, he’s such a pretty boy!!!

He kinda looks like Zac Efron in certain angles, with the hair and asian eyes.. don’t cha think?

Blake’s tongue is fucking long!!!! WTF!

And my camera hates my face.

Yo Blake, that’s my man you’re about to smooch :P

Ahhhh fun times!!!

I ♥ every single person in this picture and I miss them HEAPS!!
